Tire Rack has 255/60/15 BFGs on backorder; Good Year Eagle GT IIs don't seem to be available anymore.  BFGs at Discount Tire have been going up in price lately, and no Good Years there either... why are these size tires becoming so hard to get?  Confused

Tire makers are focusing on the later market, most of which use 17"-18" tires. I had a hard time finding 16" tires for my '85 last year, too. About the only places you can get "normal" sized tires anymore is a discount place(Tars-R-us), or Sam's...

I guess it's just a matter of time before Coker tire starts reproducing the OEM Eagle GT Radials.  I can't wait that long though.

PSU,

I ruined my old BFG TA's on "Tail-of-the-Dragon" back at our gathering in PF in June, shifted those old plies like a worm....

I just bought a set of Firestone Firehawk Indy 500s in that size and they look great on the car at something around a hundred bucks each, as I recall. Great tires... stick like glue.. look good...

Thanks for the info Dave... I hadn't bought a set of Firestones in a while and kinda forgot about them.  Found 'em for $79.

The Firehawk ia a favorite of the autocrossers, where I got the idea.

$79.00 is a GREAT price. I have a "Friend-of-Firestone" card and I didn't pay much less than that, if any.

Cooper sells a really good tire they the Cobra in those sizes. It would also be a good way to tweak the Ford guys!
