[QUOTE=1BadLT1]well if it was me i would look into the 1973

I put a call in. Hopefully I will get one back. It was just posted yesterday, so hopefully it is still there. The car is not far from the Bloomington Gold and can be on our way down taking a less Interstate drive.
Now I have jitters in my tummy.
It's even yellow!!!

Ditto on the '73!
Chase it down and give it a good look!
Bring a flashlight, a digital camera, a pad of paper, a pen and jot down anything that is questionable. Look at the frame and bird cage (just in from the front kick panels) and post your questions here.
I'm sure people here will offer their opinions on what's good, bad and what you may be able to live with.
The white '78 L-82 4SPD caught my eye, too. But I'd pursue the '73 first.

Check out the '73, the only thing that concerns me is why has the nose been replaced, so check out that front end. Other than that if the overall vehicle is OK this one you could make a great deal (remember, "or best offer"). I agree that the white '78 might be one to check out also. Good luck!

I will if someone tells me for sure what the "birdcage" is.

Vette(s): Silver 1974 Convertible - L82 4 speed
Low miles (was only 8,900 when I bought it in March 2006) - Now 54K miles. Original owner bought it as an investment for son's college expenses.
2008 Jetstream Blue Convertible
I have to agree with the others and say look at the '73. But don't let us influence you!! Get what YOU want!!!
If the noses on the '73's are anything like '74, it's not surprising that it was replaced. In '74, the noses got brittle over time. To find one today with an original nose is rare.
I wanted a Corvette my whole life, but I never dreamed of all the wonderful people I would meet because of it!

I talked with the guy tonight. The nose cracked and that is why he replaced it. I am going to call him tomorrow when I am down at the show.
It doesn't have a/c though. Being in the midwest with humidity, thats one thing to consider but I really like the look of the car. We will see what it's like when I look at it.

Testing testing 123. Sending this from my PDA.
We are just crossing over the I'LL board... time to pay tolls!
Saw 2 Vettes going down. A C4 and a C6?(new one). We have a little over an hour to go. When I find something, I will post it on here.
Thanks for all help everyone.

Well, I am sure you have all figured since you didn't hear from me, I didn't find anything and that is correct plus the 73 that I was suppose to look at already had someone put money down on it. And to top it off, I lost my $100 sun glasses.
I am very frustrated and sad. I really thought I was going to come home with something. I did bid on one in the Mecum auction but I bid $15,000 on a Yellow 74 which was the highest I promised I would go. It looked like I had it and they said the reserve was off and then someone bid $16,000. They tried to get me to do $16,250 but I said no, even though I didn't want to but I had to stick by my promise. Plus there is no way to say they just wouldn't have kept going up.
I did take pictures under the dash of one . I look at the door jam (?) and saw some brush stroke paint and ran like hell but I wanted to know if these pictures looked OK or bad so I know what to look for.

What do you guys think of this one. The only thing that bothers me is that this is the guy that was willing to slap some yellow paint on a red one for me. I don't know how much I trust him.
