Vette(s): 1996 Collector's edition LT4 - 6 speed

I just got a 96 Collector's Edition and it has an intermittent Service LTPWS light.  I've heard from a couple places that by replacing some of the electronics that it might be possible to revive the sensor.  I'm fairly handy with a soldering iron and I'd like to give it a try.  If they're cheep enough and I even get one out of ten working then it would be worth it.  I'm looking for sensors for the 93 through 96, the white case versions.  My specific bad sensor is the Left Front - Green label but I've heard that the wheel location can be reprogrammed so any label color will do.  Looking for ones that failed during use, not ones that were smashed by careless tire changers.  I might try one that had it's band broken as long is it hasn't rattled around in the tire.

does the light stay on constantly? on my 90 it will come on and then go out. i have read this happens when the signal from the sensor is not read. don't know if it may be the same with yours.

The light comes on after driving a couple miles and stays on untill I turn the engine off.  That's an indication that it's not receiving a signal from one or more sensors.  I shorted pins 5 & 6 on the ALDL port (pin numbers for the ODB2 connector) and got a blink code of 44, indicating it's the left front sensor.  Sometimes it will go all day without the light coming on, indicating it's a marginally bad sensor.

I've read that some of the components on the sensor's circuit board that provide power to the transmitter don't age well.  When they are replaced, sometimes it will start working again.

I'm asking for broken sensors because I want ro have a replacement sensor ready to put on the wheel when I have the tire taken off.  If I tried to fix my own sensor then I would have to have the tire unmounted, re-mounted and balanced twice.

So, I'm asking for non-functional sensors for 93 – 96 cars, ones with a white plastic case.
