Vette(s): Used to own a 1979 Corvette now owned by JB79
For Sale:
1979 Corvette Red T-Top
112k miles on the overall car
20k miles on the engine
Has both solid and glass tops
New Tires & Exhaust
Drives and handles well.
Runs fine.
Full disclosure:
Needs paint, carpet and door panels.
Has some oil leaks.
A/C is not currently working (probably needs refrigerant)
Water gets in the tops if it is out in the rain, driving or sitting uncovered. (I have done my best to not drive/leave it in the rain, and if it gets wet inside, I dry it out as fast as possible) There is no water damage.
Asking $5000.
I would prefer this car not be bought for parts and I would love to be able to continue to know its whereabouts throughout the rest of it's life, if that is something that can be arranged by the buyer.
Below is a full description and background:
My father was the first owner.
I took ownership of it 9 years ago when it had about 92,000 miles on it. For quite a long time, it was my father's daily driver.
Since I took ownership, I have put a lot of time, money & energy into it.
It is a tough decision to sell it, as I have loved this car since I was 8 years old.
Things change, and I just do not have any more time, money & energy to give it right now.
Some day, I will look to buy another Vette. But right now I don't have room for this hobby.
Almost immediately upon taking ownership, I replaced the motor with a GM Crate 350cc, 250hp.
Trans was rebuilt at the same time.
Over the 9 years, here are some of the things I've done to it (not in any particular order):
Original Q-Jet carb has been rebuilt a number of times.
Seats were replaced.
Both sets of t-tops were re-weatherstripped professionally
New CD/AM/FM radio installed.
Brakes & calipers replaced
Alternator replaced
Shocks replaced
A/C compressor and hoses replaced
Radiator replaced
State inspected annually
In the past 6 months:
the tires have been replaced
the mufflers were replaced with new ones
the cat was replaced with a slightly used one

This is a good resto/custom project for someone.

Seems like a real good price. I would also advertise over at the Corvette Forum.
I wouldn't think you should have any problem selling. Hate to see you sell, but do what ever you have to do... Good Luck.
