Need a used front shock

Anyone have an old front shock with a good LOWER bushing? I have an original out of my black 79 cause the rubber was tore up, shock was pushed all the way to one end of the mount. Soaked it in silicone and the mount and bushing pressed right out. Figure to get a good bushing and hopefully press it back in. This is one of those numbers/date code things, I just want to keep the shock if I can.  Mike

Why not just use a replacement type shock for the bushing only? Probably be cheaper than an "original", and no-one would be able to see the difference.
Chances are, an old shock is gonna have a bad bushing, too...

I'm gonna do the same thing with the rear shocks on the '85...lower bushings have deteriorated something awful, but the shocks themselves are still in good condition.

i have seen replacement bushings being sold in auto stores. have you tried ecklers or any of the other suppliers?

[/QUOTE] Yeah, I know it's gonna be hard to find a used shock with a good bushing, but ya never know.....I had a brand new set of Delco gas charged shocks in my box-o-parts. Ended up putting the two fronts on for now. Couldn't bring myself to butcher them up. Looking at the ones I took off, I can't help but try to save the one. Seeing the no. and date codes makes me feel like it'll never be the same again with new ones! I know, stupid NCRS stuff. Thought of going to Pep Boys and just buying a cheap one to cannibilize. Not sure if I'll even be able to press a bushing back in. Not like they're meant to be replaced.
