Why would someone sell "the rarest corvette ever" on eBay, and not at an auction like Barett-Jackson, or Mecum?

Chevrolet never built an LS7 Corvette!!!!!The car has a replacement engine or the guy does not know what he has.Most common high horsepower engine in a 71 vette was an LS5.
