I stumbled on this in e-bay this evening. Never heard of an LS-7. (LS-6's are rare enough!) I think this guy's uncle had a neat myth going before he died. Can't imaging a "supercar" as described would have air. Also -- side vents are not painted properly.

Thoughts from the shark tank ? ? ?

I don't know about 1971, but the LS-7 was an option for Chevelles in 1970. There were a few dealer optioned Camaros.

Wow! if what he says is true then it is surely a rare car. As far as having factory air, it sounds like the car came with another motor and was switched out, so it could have origionally had a/c. Notice he hasen't shown the console placque in any of the pics!

This is either a great rare find, or a great rare hoax.
I did notice it said Chevrolet didn't build it. So it is not an original Corvette. It was a kit assembled by pros, with pieces from Chevy. So in my mind that does change it's status a bit. But if it's true, it's still rare and noteworthy.
I wonder???

Yenko Chevy's aren't factory cars. They are dealer optioned cars and they are high dollar. The factory Chevy race cars were COPO. If it is a documented dealer optioned car, then it might be worth the money. If it was swapped by a race shop or other, then it sure is a nice car...and worth whatever someone is willin to pay.

Vette(s): 1971 LS6 M22 3:70 coupe, 1971 LS5 M20 3:08 coupe, 1970 LS5 M21 3:36 coupe, 1970 LS5 M21 3:70 coupe, 1970 LS5 M20 3:08 coupe.
That car is just a LS5 turned into a LS7.
Duntov was still trying to resurrect the stillborn LS7 option that fell to the deproliferation efforts of weeding out high cost, low volume options during the 1970 model year.
The 1971 Chevrolet dealer album that comes out at the beginning of the model year shows, under the Corvette section LS7 as an option. However there was a bulletin with new pages to replace certain pages in the Corvette section, dated revision January 1971. It states that RPO LS7 to be replaced with RPO LS6.
Hope this clarifies.

As always -- this place has always got the answers!
This LS-7 stuff was a great bit of learning for me.

What a beautiful Vette though, I don't especially like green but that is sure the Green Hornet! A learning experience for me for sure.

The side vents are actually cast metal and were either replaced unpainted or stripped of their original paint.

There NEVER was a "PRODUCTION" LS7 Corvette.
At least NOT directly from Chevrolet. GM decided at the last minute to pull the plug on it as far as releasing it in a production car. The LS7 motor WAS available over the counter at the local Chev. Parts Dept, though.
