Keep the 69 350-350 as it is a great vette. You can always find a C5.

The first six months after I bought my 68 were rough, and I was wondering if I had the stomach for it.  But now that she's running fine, I would never trade it for a newer one.  I might have to add to the fleet though!!Wink

no comparision, your 69 vert is probably worth than a 2002, and looks better. there is nothing like riding between the humps. gene

True statement here. Wink Your chromie (a much more "meatier car") is worth a lot more than an '02 (that's why you can get a good deal on them because they are depreciating fast).

OK, here is another twist.  The C-5 can get more than 30 mpg on a trip and it is more comfortable.  So, sell it to her as an economy car for a trip and keep the 69 for around town and on days when your morale needs boosting.  Is is worth a try.  Weak, but you have to try everything.  Look to the left, I have two and would not sell either.

OK GUYS...I'm new here, but, will chime in............Recently I bought a "bumper vette"  1970 convertible, Nothing too outrageous in the engine compartment, std. 300 hp 350 w/ an auto. Realy wanted a 68 or 69, but after looking at  MANY this one had one feature I realy liked...A SOLID RUST FREE FRAME, and a rebuilt original block..no oil leeks what so ever. Paint is overall nice for a driver...shines up great, and the thing is....pull into a gas staion to fill up and even owners of C6 models come on over to ask questions and give admiring looks! My wife REALY tried to persuede me to buy a new...or even newer vette, but, I liked the idea of the c3 for several reasons  #1 INVESTMENT!!!!!! I just dont see how you can go wrong, and believe me I am a practical man. #2 insurance cost, just paid $297.00* including collision with a 300 dollar deductable (classic car insurance..agreed value $25,000), exsise tax....$5.00* yes thats FIVE dollars.....hey its a 40 year old car. These old cars may need more work to keep them runnin', but, they are simpler to work on also. I am not a mechanic...but...with a buddy who was, and a few questions asked on this site... I can manage most simple repairs...........NOT so with our 2 new cars, I dont even bother changing my own oil! with the C3 or even earlier...if something is broke you can ...with little worry....probably manage to fix it yourself, and parts are still amazingly cheap! All this said...........If you can afford a newer vett as well... GREAT, but....I would think long and hard about selling the 69'......I am confident in the near future we will see a nice value increase!

Vette(s): 1978 Silver Anniversary model. Original L82 engine, 700r4 trans, edelbrock intake, thorly headers, rack&pinion steering, mono rear and front spring, MSD 6A box
Last weekend the wife and I were driving along and I spoted a red 02 vert for sale.  The wife said stop and lets look at it.  We took it for a drive and man what great ride.  The wife loved it.  She said if  you sale you 78 SA you can buy it.  I thought about it for about 3 seconds and decided hell no I aint letting go of my baby.  I really want a 03 50th Anniversary but, not if it means getting rid of the 78.  I'm working on her for that.  And the others are right no one every gives you the thumbs up over a C-5 or C-6, but I get it all the time in the C-3.  Keep the C-3 talk the wife into the C-5. My 2 cents.
