I have my first Corvette, a 1969 Convertible, and am very frustrated at my inability to trace the title on this vehicle. All I am trying to do is document my car's history. I do know that it came from Arkansas. According to the Arkansas DMV only certain gov't. agencies can get this info. Help - any ideas out there?

All of the privacy legislation that has been passed over the years has made it really hard to get "public" information. It all has its pros and cons - the inability to document a car's history is one of the cons.

Try a private investigator, they have ways of finding all kinds of stuff.

Dept. of Motor Vehicles, Private Investigator as mentioned or if you know someone in Law Enforcement that would have access to the computer system for running checks on vehicles. There are services to find and check backgrounds on people so maybe for vehicles also, you would have to do an internet search.

An insurance investigator can gather the same information for you too. If you tell your agent that you are trying to locate the cars history in order to establish it's true value he or she has the ability to provide this service. If it is perceived to be to your advantages they may be willing to do this as well.

Try Carfax.com (it cost you a little) and after you sign up, enter you VIN#
of your car and you should get the info you are looking for.

Carfax might not accept the older shorter VIN. Carfax only can access so far back and the older cars won't have records available to them.
