... There is a limit on the number of messages that can be held in your inbox so it is a good idea to review them from time to time.  If there are several that you want to keep indefinitely you can click on the 'Email this Private Message to myself' link found below the text of an opened message, verify that it did make it to your e-mail box, and then delete the message from your PM inbox. ... Hey Gang!  Wanted to bring this to the top of the pile again.  There are still over 6 pages of messages that I've sent to folks over time that are laying in my Outbox.  Everyone, please take a few minutes to review you PM Inbox and clean house a little bit.  And while you're at it check your IM stack also...!!!

I didn't know that the InBox is also an OutBox and the OutBox is also an InBox.  Weird....  Geek  I can see where you support guys would always be painfully aware of this...

Deleted mine and will keep it empty!

I never paid attention to that before. I have always emptied my inbox but never looked into my outbox. I did today and see 2 pages of stuff. Some of which dates back to 3/05. If I tell ya ta pull the plug on it can ya go ahead and dump it? I didn't see anything in it that may make me not wake up in the morning.

I don't know how well you are being heard Jim. I checked this today and see some of the same message as before. (In fact there are 3 pages now. Some of the PM's are from members whom are very infrequent to the forum presently. You may want to investigate another avenue to cleanse the outboxes.
Just as a footnote I wouldn't be surprised if the outboxes don't continue to grow as trial members PM people and don't know that they need to remove the item from their Inbox or the cause -n- effect of not doing so.

Ditto to Tux, Jim.  Is there some way we/you can delete the "outbox?"  Should we call it a "catbox?" Dead

Anything is possible to do from an administrator standpoint.  But to arbitrarily delete private messages is a little too "Big Brother-ish" for me.  Besides, there may be some information that folks really want to keep so that's why the option to send the message in e-mail form to yourself is there.

If the messages in my Outbox don't start to disappear in a few days I'll make a list of the folks and send an e-mail out asking them to review the messages I've sent them (which btw, have all been read by them) and either save the message(s) to their e-mail box or delete them.

As cilrah stated:
I'd like to remind people to clean out their Private Message Inbox/Outbox on a regular basis.  Your Inbox has a limit and when its breached no one can send you annoying messages  Thanks.
The main reason to clear out your PM INBOX is because if you hit the limit (I think it is 40) you will no longer be able to receive more PMs.

If your OUTBOX is getting big because people that you sent PMs to aren't cleaning out their INBOX, is NOT an issue for you.  It does NOT affect your INBOX total.

I have 23 pages in my outty!!
I go thru mine every week or so, and e-mail(to meself) the ones I need to keep that have specific info, such as phone #s, etc. My inny still stays at least 50% full most of the time. I'm just SOOOO popular!
