I'm starting to feel stupid. I can't figure out how to tell if the message has been read, not read, or been added to from the last time I read it.
I know the envelopes in colors and symbols should tell me. But so far I have not been able to make sense of them. Yes, I have seen the key, but that does not seem to resemble reality.
What am I missing?

The same thing as me I think. I haven't sorted them out completely yet either. My work-around has been to use the 'Active Topics' view and play with the time frame. Not perfect but it has helped a little bit.
