Sorry about the size of the pic, I am just happy its there!  I will try to fix it later.

Apparently "size" does matter.   [/QUOTE]

Nice ride.

Fixed!  Nice looking ride!  Gotta LUV a RED Vette...!!!

Just a reminder to everyone to use the signature preview link when testing out your signature changes.

Also a reminder that the recommended image widths are 200 pixels for signature images and 400 pixels for images inserted into posts.  Images larger in size should be inserted using the URL tags instead of the IMG tags.

Adam,
I looked for help and struggled with your suggestions and found your samples still using your old format.  It would probably help other new members like myself if the page was redone.  Got a basic signature though.Wink

I just read through the instructions at the top of this thread.  As far as I can tell, it is all still correct.

What specifically did you find to be incorrect?

Thanks!

Reading between the lines alittle I think this is what you're missing:

[quote=adam wartell]

...

8) If you have forum tags ie. |IMG| or |URL| in your old signature, you need to convert them to the new forum tags
   8a) Replace the first | in tags like |IMG| |URL| |/IMG| |/URL| with [
8b) Replace the second | in tags with ]
9) For a list of valid forum tags, click the "Forum Codes" link to the left of the signature box.

...

4) If you would like to create links or images in your signature, you need to use the New forum tags
4a) For a list of valid forum tags, click the "Forum Codes" link to the left of the signature box.

...

*** Of course, make sure to use the new Forum Codes for IMG and URL!

...

[/quote]

In the examples the pipe character ( | ) represents what was used to surround HTML tags in the old forumware.  The new forumware uses the left ( [ ) and right ( ] ) bracket characters to surround the HTML tag.  If the bracket characters were used in the examples they would get interpreted, displayed, and you would the result of the syntax not the syntax itself.  To see actual syntax examples click on the  Forum Codes link.

Does that help?

I hate to belabor this issue, but I have tried a bazillion times to create a signature, with a pic of my vehicle, and to no avail. I have followed the instructions to the letter, but always get an error message, as follows:

Microsoft VBScript runtime error '800a005e'

Invalid use of Null: 'replace'

/forum/functions/functions_filters.asp, line 524

Maybe my pic is too large (I don't know how to reduce it; http://www.VetteRegistry.net/member_uploads/7401_7500/7453/LT-1 b.jpg)? I know I don't have too many characters.....so what gives?Confused

Delete that file from your Personal File Folder (PFF).  On your hard drive, remove the space from the file name, then send it to your PFF again.
Then try adding it to your signature with the new name (that doesn't have a space in it).  Spaces can be deadly for URLs!
