It's been a little over a year since the Vette Registry site launched with forums added for the C1, C2, C5, C7 and C8 generations. As I noted in posts in the General Discussion forums of each of those generations the strength and vitality of the Corvette hobby, and this website community, thrives on the sharing of knowledge and experiences of each generation by folks who are either current or past caretakers of "America's Sportscar".
In the year plus since Vette Registry launched there have been a bunch of new folks who have joined the community who are the current caretakers of one or more of the added generations. Unfortunately I haven't noticed an uptick of posts in those expanded generations forums.
Personally I found the original C3 Vette Registry after I became the caretaker of "The Toy". While I thought of myself to be a fairly competent "driveway mechanic" having done a lot of general maintenance on my daily drivers over the years I asked a LOT of questions about how to tackle projects I had never done before. The answers and guidance I received helped me in ways I can't begin to measure and boosted my confidence, and pride, in my abilities. And best of all, I made some great friends in the process. Those friendships made on-line through the C3VR website, and C4VR website after becoming the caretaker of "The Beast", were strengthened even more when meeting face to face at the member gathering over the years.
So don't be shy. You won't find an answer if you don't ask a question. The knowledge base won't increase otherwise. Even though "The Toy" and "The Beast" are no longer in my garage I will still pipe in on a thread where I think I may be of help. And I'm not the only one who does that (you know who you are - and THANKS!).
See ya down the road!
