If there is a price difference for you, that is the way I would go. I voted either way. Doesn't matter to me.

I'm sure the staple is cheaper.
Everyone I showed my calendar to thought it was very professionally made.
I think the spiral is nicer and allows the calendar to hang flat.
Just my 2 scents.
