Ahh, the simple things used to distract us 900+ channels of Hi Def Digital TV, WWW, Facebook and it's ilk, news 24/7/365 that is hype, opinion and conjecture, all while they erode away at our rights. 

Think back to the pre-9-11 days, pre-desert storm and for those of us old enough to remember the days when we left the back door open but were afraid of "the big one".
Tux and the Apple are providing great advice.

These days, it may not be the best thing to put too much information about yourself out for all the world to see, including making it easy for your government to find out anything they want without complying with the bare bones of the patriot act. 

If you put it out there for all the world to see then they don't need a warrant to "surf it".

The wife and her family moved from Yahoo to a much less well known private site that is somewhat secure, but they don't use their real identities and keep it locked down.

Tux and Joel have their third member...me. Working in the law enforcement world, I am very skeptical of these global forums. Maybe I see things happening that others don't consider. Take this for what is it worth, once you post on Facebook and Myspace, you have eliminated any hopes you had of privacy. Anything that you put out there can and will be used against you. Your profile, lifestyle, and such can be used against you in a civil action. For instance, if you brag about your ability to out drink your buddies, that can be used in your DUI case. It's just bad news. I can't believe that grown people actually post on them. My opinion only.
