Vette(s): Used to own a 1979 Corvette now owned by JB79

I’m very excited to share some big news! Very soon, the three Vette Registry sites will be merged into one. The new site, simply called “Vette Registry,” will include all Corvette generations!

Read on to learn more about the reason behind the new site, annual Gatherings, updates to memberships and what you can expect on the new site.

Changes Over the Years

After over two decades of running the CX Vette Registries (24 for C3VR, 22 for C6VR and 16 for C4VR) many things have changed! When C3VR was launched, the latest Corvette generation was only the C5, Facebook wasn’t even invented yet, and online community forums were super popular.

Over those 24 years, three more Corvette generations were added, Facebook was launched, and their “Groups” feature quickly became very popular. Our C4VR membership has also changed. The original members have changed, too. Some members sold their C4 to get a different generation; others added another Corvette generation to their garage.

When I go to Carlisle, or other locations, to promote the Registries, all day long people ask why I don’t also offer a registry for C1s, C2s, C5s, C7s, and C8s. Also, as I’m sure you have noticed, the activity in the C4VR forums (and the other Registry sites) has dropped off dramatically over the years, likely as a result of changing Corvette ownership and the evolution of social media.

With all of these changes over the past quarter century, I decided it is time for the Registries to change too.

The New “Vette Registry”

The new site, Vette Registry, will include all current and future Corvette generations. This will allow Corvette owners and enthusiasts that own one generation or multiple to have a single resource for all their needs. All of the features of the original sites will remain in place, but also expand. For instance, the Corvette Stats page on each site only included that site’s generation. Now all generations will be included.  The forums will still have dedicated sections for C4-specific topics, but also each generation will have it's own dedicated section.

The new website address, once launched, will be www.VetteRegistry.net -- Notice that it is .net and not .com. (Unfortunately. The .com version is owned by someone else, but it is not in use.)

Annual Gatherings

The combination will also allow the C3VR annual Gatherings to include all the members from C4VR, C6VR and all the other generation owners too!

Site Changes

The new site has been given a complete modern makeover meaning all the pages look even better, are mobile-friendly and support “dark mode.” You can even pick a color scheme to personalize your experience. You can stay with "C4 Green" or any of the other 7 choices. There will be some new features too, like "mentions".

Membership Changes

Regarding your membership. There will be four levels of membership: Free, Standard, Gold, and Lifetime. All existing membership will carry over to the new site as free members. You can choose to stay free forever, if that is your wish.  But you can always upgrade to any higher level at any time.

Standard and Gold members will be an upgrade with a fee that covers you for one year.

Lifetime will be a single payment that covers your for life.

Each level, of course, has its own features and benefits. Once the new site is ready you’ll be able to see a comparison chart that explains what each one offers.

What Happens Next

I'm still putting some finishing touches on the new site. But I am almost done! As part of this transition, there will need to be some downtime for the old sites so the necessary technical changes can be completed. When the new site launches, I will send you another email to let you know! I hope to keep this downtime to a day or two at most. During the translation if you visit the old sites you will be greeted with a message about the transition and will not be able to access the site. Once it is complete, visiting the old sites will automatically redirect you to the new one. I expect to be ready to launch the new site by next weekend.

We wouldn’t be here without you!

The Registries wouldn’t be here for so long if not for the participation and support of members like you! I hope you will find the new site modern, fun and as useful as I think it will be. I invite and strongly encourage you to become active in our forums once again.

I’m sure some folks will have questions and once the site is up we can discuss it there. You can also reply to this email if you have any questions or comments for me that can’t wait until then.

As always, thank you for your support! I can’t wait for you to see the new site and experience the next chapter in Vette Registry history!

Wow!  I have felt bad that there wasn't a C5VR.  Excited now!  But...  I haven't participated in any forums for 2 reasons:  #1 is the most invasive -- I am sitting here with a broken ankle wishing that I was (mostly) normal.

#2 is a bit excessive...  Because I have the 2001 coupe, Annie, the 35th Anniversary car has been laid up for months.  It's embarrassing as well.  In February, I made an order through Corvette Central for a simple power steering fluid return hose.  I am STILL waiting for it.  They have kept me informed about their various excuses with their supplier.  And it's pretty obvious that I could've gone ahead and just tightened the hose clamps, but, since I have backup, why get cheap about it?  So Annie isn't generating any stories because the only adventure it's having is "hovering" above the C5 on the Wildfire lift.

Being incapacitated with the broken ankle is tough, and "when I get out of this" seems to accompany most of my thoughts. I feel that 2025 has been a horrible year that began, at least from my intents, on the best of expectations.  I met several of the folks I usually meet during the year at the Tacoma club's start off event, where are guy can pick up flyers for NW events for the year.  And then began experiencing minor medical complications that "piled up" and preclude me from doing anything this year.

So here I am.  I am still here, seeing that folks are still buying up Corvettes and looking for contacts.  I hope that the comfort of making initial contacts through this website continues to encourage those of us who have been momentarily sidelined to look forward to times when we can meet again.

Hey, sorry to hear about things keeping you from being able to work on your Vette.

Hopefully you'll "be through it" soon and you'll get that part!

Keep us posted.
