Hey Craig.
It was nice meeting you this weekend. Sorry to hear about your misfortune. Lots of that at Carlisle this weekend, including me (my canopies being destroyed). Glad you're ok. That's most important!

Stepson was ok. Probably had to change his clothes as it rolled him over, but the GM car came thru.
I agree, something needs to be done about the trucking industry, although it isn't all of them there are many who shouldn't be on the roads. I am concerned about what the NAFTA deal will cause in the next year or so when they start letting the Mexican trucks across. I know they plan to check them, but you can't feasibly check them all.
Let them do it right. If not, you'll be chasing cracks and crazing from now on.

Sure glad he was okay. His sounded pretty scarey. Like I said - Tough Cars.
They can check the trucks and the loads, but who licenses the drivers? Mexico? U.S.? I have nothing against anyone, but we have to be consistent and firm in our regulation, no matter what the citizenship/nationality/status. My big issues are with truck design relative to the close quarters they have to operate within in town, and the speeds they run on the open road. I have to admit they are probably safer than some 16 year old in a Chevy, but there are more and bigger trucks on the road, so the odds shift to them.
You're right on the car. I guess this shop wants to do it right. The owner has cash sponsored some of our club (140+ members) events, and has a classic car or two, so he understands. Better to start with a new door than have fillers and levelers start cracking down the road, even with proper glasswork on the old door. Insurance is covering, but I cringe at the cost, anyway.

Hi Adam,
Sorry about your canopies. That had to be a mess. We were at dinner about 30 miles away and never knew it happened until we got back. I hope you didn't have any other damage or losses.
I wish we had more time to chat on Saturday, but it was SO HOT that I think both of us were zoned a bit. Janet just wanted ice cream and shade, and I wasn't too far behind her on that. I hope you got enough helpers so you didn't have to work all the time. I wish we had not been with others and had time to put in a few hours. Maybe at Mid-America in September if I schedule it right. Can't promise, but I'll try to spell you - will stop by to say HI at the least. We will have the C3 fixed by then, but I think we're taking the C5 because we need more trunk (know that feeling??).
Thanks for your concern about the incident. All is fine..
Craig

Craig,
Sorry for your misfortune but am happy that you guys were not hurt. Sounds like the Vette will get first class treatment. Good luck.

Wow - glad you guys weren't physically mangled. You sure sound calm, cool, and collected..........had it been me, the trucker would have had a lot more than a bent bumper to deal with! I hate drivers that flat don't pay attention!

Now that I see the pic, it looks as bad as it sounded. You really were lucky that it wasn't worse than it was.

Bryan. Actually, the picture doesn't do it justice. That door really to a crush. When I pulled the door panel to stick in the temporary window, I was surprised the only obvious problem was the beam was bowed a bit. Even the electric window mechanism still worked. For pushing the car sideways with the door, that shows how tough it is.
Bob. I was not so cool and collected when it happened. When I finally got the car loose so I could get out, I went to get HIM out. Janet's only concern was I'd end up in jail
He was bigger than me, but I still got into his face a bit. Mostly because all he seemed to care about was his truck. I'm sure he didn't mean to do it, but it was sure stupid on his part to not look closer. I probably shouldn't have been that close at that angle, either. So - accident is was. No one hurt. Car getting fixed. I just hope it comes out as perfect as it was.
