Vette(s):
SOLD - "The Toy" - '70 Convertible
SOLD - "The Beast" - '90 ZR-1 (#682)
SOLD - "Betty" - '28 Ford Model A Tudor
SOLD - "BLKBRRD" - '78 Pontiac Trans Am
"BLUBYU" - '04 Coupe
I think April is out because of horse racing that is going on then.  From what I've seen here in posts that event gobbles up a lot of lodging.

JD or someone,
can you confirm that the first Weekend in May wouldn't overlap with anything major there?

Thanks!

Adam,
Read back on the thread I outlined the events for both weekends and the link to the Arkansas Events website. There is nothing of importance in town the first weekend in May

As far as the Hot Springs Corvette Weekend it is a great show! There were around 400 Vettes registered for the show this year. There are great activites planned from a parade, cruises, drag races, car show with awards to a reception and a hamburger dinner. Fun for all. I have been the last 3 years and have won a best of show award and 2 class awards at this show. They are very kind to C3s.

I think Adam was very clear that this event would take place on the first or second weekend in May. With Mothers day the second weekend, I would assume it would default to the first weekend in May unless Adam changed it to an April date.

The HS Corvette Weekend is only 2 weeks before the May first weekend date! There should be NO problems with hotel rooms as we have thousands of hotel/motel rooms since we are a tourist town and live horse racing will be over. But it is still Adam's decision.

It all depends if you want to schedule it with a major event and this is a major event! However, I do think it would be enjoyable for all!

Oy vey.
First, I'd have to make sure that weekend worked for me.
If so, that would bring us back to the "Should be go to a location when no other Corvette event is happening or not?"  Although at 400 cars, it is a big show, but it is no Carlisle or Funfest...so it doesn't sound like it would be a crazy hotel/traffic situation.

Then, if we decide to go during this event, we're back to the "should we just go with the show schedule or make our own?"  "If we make our own, should we include any parts of their schedule, and if so, which part(s)?"

It looks like their schedule occupies Friday and Saturday. We'd be arriving wednesday night which would allow us to have our own schedule for Thursday, then catch up with and use their schedule for Friday & Saturday.  Would make my life easier, I know that.  Looks there there is a $55 reg fee.

Also, we may have an issue where some people like the idea of joining their show and others that want to be our own thing.

On the surface, it sounds like a good idea to go that weekend.

Thoughts?

Are there conflicts with any other major Corvette events anywhere in the country that weekend?

OK, this shows just how much you guys and gals read the Shark Bytes.  JD had a story in the Spring SB about winning at the HSCW.  71Shark, Mike Ray and I went over.  There was also a story about a chick that won the drags...

The traffic downtown was bad last year, but I think that was because they also were having the 100th year of the bathouse or some such other event.

JD, what else was going on last year.  It was really congested on Saturday down bathouse row.

It was a pretty cool show.  My car was down, so it was a bummer being there in a pickup.  The food was darned good that they served free with your registration.  Hotel rooms are plentiful and cheap.  Our Eastern OK County club decided late to go over and had no probs getting rooms out by the lake.  There is a hotel on the lake with lots of rooms overlooking the lake area.  Cool site.  We were thinking of getting rooms there next year.

Cool show and the drags are on a 1/8th mile track so they turn and burn fast.  The show is well run and well organized.

Last year the only event downtown was the 100th Anniversary of Hot Springs being a National Park. By the way we were the first national park in the entire nation! Cool

It was very conjested because of that but the good news is, that it will not happen again for another 100 years so we are safe for 08! phew
