I live in Missouri and quite often drive sections of Route 66 to include the very first section where the route was commisioned in Springfield, Missouri. There are still some neat sections with the skeletons of the old roadside motels and gas stations. When I was stationed at Fort Leonard Wood, there is 15 mile section that is 4 lane which was unusual for Rt 66. Most of the road in Missouri runs parallel to or criss crosses Interstate 44. I highly recommend visiting the route in any state that you can. It is a piece of transportation history.

Vette(s): 1978 Silver Anniversary model. Original L82 engine, 700r4 trans, edelbrock intake, thorly headers, rack&pinion steering, mono rear and front spring, MSD 6A box
As a kid I lived in Barstow Ca., and every summer we would drive route 66, to Oklahoma City to visit my grandparents. I remember stopping at Whiting Bros. gas station for gas in our 55 buick. This site brings back some great memories.
