For $30-35 per plate the dinner would have to be fairly top shelf IMO. And I haven't experienced very many top shelf meals at hotel conference centers. But then, for us Friday night is usually "date night at Culver's" and I walk away with change after plunking down a 5 and a 10 spot (including non-alcoholic beverages).
If a cash bar were in the room we most likely would not use it.

$30.00 for Dinner sounds fine to me. Is there a bar near by the banquet room? If not, I like the idea of a cash bar. That way you can drink or not. Your choice. just my .02

If the $30-35 includes tax and tip, that is a good price for a complete dinner.
I don't need the bar.
For choice of the main course, I'll have the lobster tail and prime beef please.

BTW, our hotels are near Silver Oak Golf Club. Did you check to see if they cater (dinner) to tourists?

I too, like options. I do enjoy my beer. Hope we can hook up with a nice filet mignon at that price. You scared me when you used that word "Formal" in the same paragraph. I had to go back and do a double take to be sure it was not in reference to dinner (My Tux is at the cleaners).

I AGREE WITH NORSKY. AT $30-$35 PER PLATE, I WOULD BE EXPECTING A PRETTY NICE MEAL. BUT, BEING A "SATURDAY" NIGHT IN JUNE, I IMAGINE IT WOULD BE PRETTY HARD TO BEAT. I'M JUST HAPPY TO BE THERE. I'LL THROW MY HAT IN WITH THE FLOW AND PLAN ON HAVING A REALLY GREAT TIME WITH EVERYONE!

Hey Everyone,
I just got back online after the death of my computer and saw this thread. The National Automotive Museum in Reno does banquets, I am waiting for a returned call on the cost of catering, but the museum told me if we have an evening dinner it costs $6.00 per head, min 50 people for admission and we'll have the whole
place to ourselves. Sounds cool to me. I'll get back to everyone when I get some prices.

Is the $6/head to rent the place and then you have a caterer bring in the food for an extra cost?
What do you get for six bucks?

The 6 bucks is for admission to the museum, we'll have the entire museum to ourselves for the evening.
I got word from the caterer it's pretty expensive (no surprise there). Dinners start at $29.00 and go up.
If you want to check out the museum go to www.automuseum.org

The 30-35 bux is fine with us too. While I can enjoy a beer or wine with dinner, a bar just for me isn't necessary. My flask works just fine

I'll go with the flow.......
