I was just informed that there is a huge Corvette show in Redmond OR on the same weekend as the 2016 C3VR Gathering (July 14-16) and was told that a large group from the NW usually go to the this. They are wondering if there is any way to move this to the next weekend in July 22 & 23?
Do we think there are enough C3VR people that would be affected by this? Would they choose the Redmond event over the C3VR event if they fell on the same weekend?

Sure, if it's one thing I can't stand it's being in a location with even more Corvette to ogle...
Is this a real problem for them because some of our members belong to both? I think it may introduce a great opportunity to meet up with another club and share our experiences, maybe even over a meal or attraction visit.
I can do any date but I like the idea of meeting folks from another club. Maybe pose it as a "our members would love to meet your members and see how you operate one of your functions".

Moving the date is certainly possible, July 20th thru the 24th were kind of our back up dates anyway. I do like Dave's idea for making a trip to Redmond part of our event. According to their website, the event is being put on by the High Desert Corvette club and the dates are Saturday the 16th and Sunday the 17th (hope I've got the right one). It's a 5 to 5 1/2 hour trip from Tacoma and would make for a very long day but it is doable. I think we need some more input. Option 1 - Change the date, Option 2 - make the Redmond show part of our event or Option 3 leave the date, perhaps those who want to go to Redmond could attend C3VR on Saturday and Redmond on Sunday ?? I'm not sure how many people we're talking about. Maybe there's even an option 4 out there, let's hear some feedback.

Our event runs Thursday-Saturday. So technically anyone interested in going to the Redmond show could still join us for Thursday & Friday events.
Maybe the question should be: How many people does this really effect? If the answer is "very few" then maybe a change isn't needed, especially if they can still hook up with us for 2 of the three days.
And for the record, I personally have no desire to drive 5-1/2 hours in one trip during our gathering.

Wow, I actually agree with Adam on something?

The High Desert Corvette Club's show was actually a part of the C3VR Gathering in Bend. It was held in Sisters, OR that year and several of the C3VR group participated in it.
The 5 1/2 hour drive is one way so keep that in mind.

For anyone coming from the east. The Black Hills Corvette Classic starts in Sioux Falls SD on the 12th and ends up in Spearfish later that week (14th-16th) making is possible to drop in and check it out on the way to WA with a stop at Yellowstone. This was a huge show in the early 90's when I last attended....now "huger" applies.

Moving the date to the next weekend is out for me - family vacation that is already planned. And I would not recommend trying to include the Redmond event as part of ours. That drive is long from my town and I'm two hours closer than Tacoma. My vote is to keep the date as is. I guess an option 4 would be move the location closer to Redmond (Hood River, OR?) but not sure if we'd want to make that change after all the votes have been counted and such....

Adam, unless you hear or we see input from a large number of people that are going to skip the C3VR event for the Redmond show, my vote is to save the date. 5 1/2 hours was about two hours over my driving limit for a show and shine, I would have done it we the C3VR group but not on my own. I also believe there are probably more people that have already made plans since we set the original date. Let's save the date !!
