How was everyones trip home?

My way was rain stop rain heavy rain rain stop and heavy rain when 50 miles to home.    Never stop raining even today. 

 

Hey Ken, I can digit... We had drizzle 'bout halfway then the skies opened up in a downpour, traffic slowed to a crawl on I-40 and my lap got cold and wet. Don't give a crap... it was all worth it..

Left about 10 AM and saw Blu72 leaving town at the same time...Hit Major HEAVY rain early in the afternoon on 81 and it lasted for what seemed foreever... Stopped in Christiansburg Virginia and spent the night
and got up to Rain Monday Morning... BUT by the time we left the rain had stopped and we drove to within 30 miles of home BEFORE we got
caught in by another HEAVY rain...  somewhere along the drive home We ran into the Ricers..(Terry & Beverly) at some rest area...Never caught up with them hoever...

Very Very Good weekend only wish the rain had not come down on Friday evening I have the feeling the BBQ would have lasted until the wee hours of the morning ...AND THANK YOU GEORGE for the umbrella you lent to my wife... she appreciated only getting soaked...not drowned.!

We stayed over at P.F till Monday with Jim and Donna ( 78sevette). The trip home got started at about 6.30 am. No rain but a lot of traffic most of the way. We still made good time pulling in at home about 6:00 pm. I couldn"t believe that we never hit one traffic jam either way.

 Thanks to Jim and Donna (78sevette),Dennis and Linda (Indy 99 ), and Jim (Norsky) for the great caravan we had.

  It was a great trip back, dispite the marginal weather. Didn't see sun shine until about mid Kentucky, but the fog in the mountains was a great Kodac moment. I ran the back door for so long that I suggested to Mike (Great Pumpkin) that he install a plasma screen on his trailer door so we could watch movies, but I think the traffic jam created would be outragous. Just put the old Ford on auto-pilot, have some snacks and watch movies - just like the old drive-in days, except your doing 70MPH. We got home about 5PM, got everything unloaded and started cleaning up after Wed nights storm. All in all, had a wonderful time and will do it again in a heartbeat.

    Great to have met and got to know you all and hope to see you again soon. Love like your hearts never been broken.

Glad that you 2 made it home okay. My wife and I sure had fun... It was a pleasure to met you both. I haven't laughed so hard in a long time. I hope to see you at Mid America or Bowling Green.
If not we amy have to take a trip to the lake. Thanks for everything.

Well I finally made it home yesterday. Boy was that a long trip. 6300 miles in three weeks. We had a great time (exceept for two teenagers fighting in the back seat) and everything went as planned. Did come across a Dodge Durango on its roof in the middle of I90. We got there just as the state police were arriving. Not sure if the people in side were hurt. Some of the people who were all ready at the scene were trying to open the doors.

We did make it to the Corvette Museum in Bowling Green. That was certainly a highlight for me, Mt Rushmore (the wife is political and had to see it), Yellowstone, and Big Sky, MT.

If anyone is looking for a stunning drive through the mountains I would recommend Hwy 14 through the Big Horn mountains. It can be picked up just west of Sheridan, WY on I90.

Now its time to play catch up at work and in the yard.

When we left Pigeon Forge the wife and I thought we would be all alone for days on end travailing back to the west coast, we reflected on all the cool cars and people we just met, love them Texans, well missing driving in a line of corvettes, feeling lonely we were approaching Oklahoma City on I-40, when out of the no were 12 of the most beautiful Corvettes came in to view..wooray, I said out load, we had just came across a corvette club heading to the west coast, we would not be alone anymore..They stayed close to each other, I would pass them and they would pass me, we played this game until Elba and I stopped in Amarillo, Texas to see if I could eat a 72 oz steak. Love them Texans, that's half of a bull? WOW..Anyway never did catch up with that unknown Corvette Club, my hats off to them, Oh, I did take a picture of 'em..Terry
