Dan, The return spring in the pump goes haywire and collapses. That is the noise you hear. There is a trick to holding the push rod up so you can get the arm under it. Be VERY careful, DO NOT get the arm "ON" the push rod, it will not work, and may bend something. Pull the bolt out on the front of the block that is even with the pump and put a longer one in, push the rod up with your finger and "SNUG" the longer bolt against the rod just enough to hold it up. DO NOT forget to replace the short bolt, once you get the new pump in, could create a problem with rod. I also have a good pump handy. Am I off topic?

I have my own issue, Dan! Lew just called me and said the starter just took a dump! It was the last part on the old engine so hopefully this will be the last of it! Still supposed to mpick up the car tomorrow. Fingers crossed! Hope your fuel pump works out, Dan! Let's get all this stuff out of the way!

Just got done replacing the oil cooler lines so will have to take a test run tomorrow after work. Seems like a lot of last minute wrenching going on...!!!
Wally and I will be leaving Saturday morning. Stops in Indianapolis, Tennessee, and North Carolina will fill the time before arriving in Charleston on Wednesday afternoon.
See ya there...!!!

Is anyone bringing along bag chairs? Or will most of the "bench racing" take place inside? As of now, I am planning on NOT bringing along two chairs.
Inquiring minds want to know.

I don't have room for chairs, besides we never needed them before.

Thank you DaveM, that is sort of what I was thinking too. Of course I could always mount the chairs on some tires and drag them behind me. Lucky for me, Charleston is about (to the hotel) a 4 hour drive. We hope to be there by 5:00 on Thursday. I really hate to miss the trip out to the light house. That will be a great photo op! BUT a warning...when you are right on the ocean, do NOT say the word SHARK too loudly, even though you would be talking about C3's.
