CARAVAN - West meets East

Glen, with only a 17 gallon fuel tank and a 5 speed transmission, I hope for 25/27 MPG. So that will be an average of 26MPG X17=442 Miles, is that right? Two fill-ups per day. I'll plan for 3 per day? If the caravan is to keep up with Iron82, I'm sure my 750 Double Pumper will have that constant sucking sound?..

My truck has a CB and I think just me and the wife are going (NO KIDS!) we also have a few of those FRS radios, now if that old ragedy chevy truck can keep up we should be good to go.  

Terry,  I hope your not going to use up all the 17 gals. of fuel in your vette.  Then you and not the others will be pushing your vette to the nearest station.     har, har, har.... 

The vette gets a good 30mpg on the highway and 15 in the city.   This will help with all the others that would need gas earlier.  I'll fuel up when we all fuel up.    Makes it easier on everyone. 

We have also planned for a 3 stop strategy.  Less havoc and wondering how far the vette will make the trip to another fuel station.

Heres the CB I got, takes up absolutly no room in the Cab of the truck.  this would also make an excellent CB for a Vette with its limited space   All you see when mounted is the mic

Well if it is still in the cards for me to tag along, assistant for Lacey is still a tough issue, and the wife has been alittle testy lately, she was saying something about me not communicating enough or listening to her, not sure i wasn't paying attention. 

anyway I am afraid of the mileage my ol girl is going to get, and hope that it does not screw everyone up.

I see a lot of C4s/C5s with CB antennas mounted on a little bracket off the rear of the car.  Never looked close enough to see where they attach to the car.  I'd guess that any of the major parts houses would have the bracket in their catalogs.

Larry I have that problem every once in a while. It must be a man thing we do. Sure hope you can make it. It would be good to have our wives get together again. I know Julia enjoyed  her company at Skykomish.

The C-4 and C-5 has thier CB's mounted near thier license plate.

Mark, get a "splitter" device, from a CB shop, Radio Shack, etc. It uses the same antenna as the car radio. Just unplug the radio on the car, and plug this in between the ant. & radio. Then the coax cable for the CB(made onto the "splitter") screws into the CB. That's what I have in my '74, and it works quite well. Not as effective as a whip, but it gets the job done.

btw....I've got a 30" magnetic mount, if you would like to try that.....for some reason, I can't get it to stay on my car. I think the paint may be too thick, or sumpthin....Adams' Apple38753.7795717593
