Just a heads-up for those of you that use radar detectors:

Radar detectors are illegal for passenger vehicles in Virginia and Washington, D.C.
Be aware that police in Virginia often use "Radar Detector Detectors" to find and ticket drivers using these devices!
In all other states, they are generally legal for private use. But worthy of noting: While the detector itself may be legal in these most states, mounting it on the windshield is prohibited in several states because it can be classified as an "obstruction of view"

These states include:
  • California
  • Minnesota
  • Pennsylvania
  • New Jersey

SOLD - "The Toy" - '70 Convertible
SOLD - "The Beast" - '90 ZR-1 (#682)
SOLD - "Betty" - '28 Ford Model A Tudor
SOLD - "BLKBRRD" - '78 Pontiac Trans Am
"BLUBYU" - '04 Coupe

The last radar detector I was associated with was installed by the first owner of "The Beast". I forget the name of the brand or exactly where the primary part of the unit was located but it was somewhere under the nose of the car with a very small secondary unit in the righthand side of the instrument cluster. Didn't use it much but it did save my butt a few times.

Wonder if the "windshield obstruction" rule also applies to GPS units. 🤔
