Vette(s): Silver 1974 Convertible - L82 4 speed Low miles (was only 8,900 when I bought it in March 2006) - Now 54K miles. Original owner bought it as an investment for son's college expenses. 2008 Jetstream Blue Convertible
Looks like the votes have selected Indianapolis and Cincinnati. Jan, Mark, and I have a number of great ideas of where to go, but a couple of the ideas (listed in the poll) would define events more than others.

Option 1 - We could start things in Indianapolis with a visit to the annual Mecum Auction on Wednesday morning, May 16, and from there head east for other events with a typical Wednesday evening start. There is an admission and parking fee, and while I know many of the cars are out of most of our budgets, almost all are on display and it is great fun to look!

Option 2 - Most likely the biggest draw for Indianapolis is the Motor Speedway, home of the Indy 500. However, other than the standard tour, it's simply not realistic to be able to drive our cars on the track with few exceptions. Bloomington Gold is one of those. For a fee (on top of BG admission) you can take "hot laps" on the track. Plus, the Bloomington Gold show is the "Grand-daddy" of the Corvette shows. Including this would likely shift the start date of our gathering from the typical Wednesday to earlier in the week. Once in Indy, we would also be less likely to get a single block of Hotel rooms given other groups already working those dates. Not impossible, but... The show runs June 21 (Thu) through 23 (Sat). You can buy one or three day passes (or two single day passes), and we could always plan and/or suggest events and meals in Indy for those who only attend the show one or two days if interested.

Option 3 - If neither of these events are of much interest, not to worry, we have plenty more ideas (and neither of these events would eliminate any of them), but knowing these preferences would help us to select the "launch point" for other events and allow us to shape the rest of the agenda.

Please vote on one option by the end of August. Between now and then, we'll keep working on plans and in early September, we should be able to give more information on thoughts for the hotel location and event options (more votes to come!)

I'd ask "Are we there yet?" but I'll wait until we at least know where 'there' is

Question: What is your preference for an

1. Start in Indy on Wed May 16 with Mecum Auction, then head to Cincy
2. Start in Cincy area, then end in Indy with Bloomington Gold starting Thursday June 21
3. I'm not interested in either of the above, so the dates aren't as important

O.K. I'll break the ice. I say leave Grandaddy to those who can participate. I'm sure we can get on the track at some other time. Mecum would be nice as a individual attendee. As a group I think it would be chaos. If someone is looking to buy I think it would be fun. As you say, there are plenty of attractions and not enough time to see them. A mix of travel, down time and group functions would be very nice. Fancy food doesn't have to be a priority. Lodging should fit the areas we will spend the most time in. I am willing to participate in any and all you set up. It's a big job, and I respect you taking on the responsibility. THANK YOU in advance.

We could do a Go Fund Me for a pool of cash to go to Mecum and buy a club Corvette!

🚗 👏 Where would we store it, and who keeps the key? We could call it "The Jello Car". Don't ask why. We're getting off topic, but I'm sending it anyway. Sorry, moderators.

Allow me to clarify: Having the C3VR gathering aligned with the dates and location of Bloomington Gold (or Mecum) would not change the gathering. We would still gather for three full days. The idea of voting for one of these two events is to allow folks a "two for one" opportunity. My guess is that there may be people who would like to attend Bloomington Gold once and/or get a chance to drive their Corvette on the famed oval but don't or won't make a separate trip to do so. If coordinated with Bloomington Gold, the C3VR gathering would, for all intents and purposes, end once BG started. I would be happy to give people ideas for other sites to see and places to eat, if not coordinating a dinner as is done at Carlisle and other events. As the poll allows, if you aren't interested in either, option 3 is there. We want this gathering to be what the members want, hence this poll.

I think as in the past, most people want to have our own gig without the crowds of other big Vette events going on. I think it's pretty easy for any one person to attend a big event any time since it will always be there. But a C3VR member gathering is special built just for us. That's what makes them so much fun! You know I can appreciate the amount of hard work that goes into planning such things,. So I'm very thankful you guys are willing to put this together! Just let me know what you need from me and I'll help as best I can. I'll start with sending out an email about this poll.

I live in the North Western Ohio area and don't want to drive to Indiana in my old Vette. I just want to attend the Cincinnati C3VR event which is far enough already, so I don't know how to vote on this.Confused

Well Trent, the way I see it is you cannot be more than 125 or so miles from any of the venues we could possibly use. IF we stay in Greensburg, you will two hours or so from all stops. Drive it!
