I think your right about the Cracker Barrel management. I remember him and in particular his son.
His son had made the trek to Pigeon Forge without a shirt on and was Lobster Red. (which probably felt good in the evening rain....)

I'd suggest looking at the Chamber of Commerce's website to see if there are any major events happening on any of the dates Adam suggested. Competition for lodging could be an issue if there is a big event in the area.

The Newport Music Festival was held July 11-27 this year. This is a HUGE gathering so we may run into problems if it is scheduled for the same timeframe next year. The Newport Jazz Festival is in August but looks like it is just a long weekend event.
