Love that little red Vette!
If it isn't broke, I haven't fixed it yet....

That is one great looking car!
I love the way the paint shines and with the number of trophies you have, who cares about the NCRS Top Flight award!

Mine is far from "original" having had the non-correct exhaust installed and those fugly wheels I have.
But, the car is and will remain "as built" meaning it won't get engine mods or any customized changes.
In particular I don't like the original exhaust. I like the tips sticking out the back rather than to turn down. I will someday put original wheels back on because I think they look good.
Mine also has the FX3 system disabled. the PO (and I don't blame him) put regular Monroe shocks on when he found out it was going to cost almost 2 thousand dollars to replace the shocks and repair the system.
On mine the paint is original and has a few small chips and it will stay that way. Very shiny and smooth. I was amazed at how glossy the paint is. I have some minor crazing in the acrylic top and I've replaced the headliner in the solid top.
I don't win trophys. LOL. But I so enjoy going to shows.

a
Car Wisperer:
Your '86 Coupe is identical to mine except mine is the earlier cast iron heads model. I bought it new in fall of 1985 and now have about 88K miles. I did get a Regional NCRS Top Flight award a few years ago and took a few deductions on items that were not original such as battery, oil filter and mufflers. I think NCRS is going to have to rethink its judging policies when it comes to original looking parts. Some items are not going to be available.
Because of problems with my daily Buick driver, I had to put the full insurance on the '86 a bit early and there is still plenty of snow around. I try to avoid the messy days. One of the guys in my town saw me out with it and asked: "A little early for it?"

Vette(s): 1993 Polo Green, tan leather interior.
Plus thanks to cash for clunkers where so many people turned in their C4 Vettes for that $4,500.00, original parts are even harder to come by.

That is a mean looking Vette! Driving a Vette in the snow is a challenge. I used to have a 1969 way back in the early 70's and I drove that winter and summer, pretty scary in the snow and ice.
1986 "Bright Red" COUPE - Aluminum Heads,
Sport Seats, Bose, Ultra-Flo Exhaust,
Automatic, Bilsteins - "Mostly Original" otherwise.
