We are planning a visit the end of Dec.. any suggestions on how much time is realistically neede to tour the museum?

A couple of hours to go slow, and see it all. A normal walk thru, with just look-see takes aboot an hour or less. Depends on how slow you are, and what kind of neat-o stuff there is there at the time!

In another thread somewhere it was mentioned that you could power tour the museum in about half an hour. But if you stop and read all of the placards, watch all of the videos and oogle all the cars you can easily spend half a day (or more).
Assembly plant tours are handled by GM now and I'd highly recommend taking one of the first tours of the day and then spend the rest of the day at the museum.
