The Black Hill Classic was a "bucket list" item when we lived in Minnesota that didn't get checked off. I worked in Rapid City for a time and can vouch that the Black Hills area is a beautiful part of the country. Driving east to west on I-90 it's interesting to watch the landscape change from farmland in "East River" to prairie in "West River" after you cross the Missouri River. Along the way a "detour" through Badlands National Park is a must do as is a stop at Wall Drug.

Would like to - someday. It's an even longer hike from northeast Vermont.

Vette(s): 1978 L48 Auto. Red with Oyster Leather interior. Owned since 1990.
It's a long way from France! But we did attend the Black Hill Classic back in 2006, as part of a 6 week excursion that began in Southern California, travelling with friends in Corvettes of Southern California and took in visits to Cheyenne, Laramie on route to The Black Hills Classic. While there we did visit Wall Drug, the Badlands National Park, Deadwood and the site of the filming of some of Dances With Wolves. Some pretty fab scenery. We then had a dash to Portland Oregon for the IMSA race there, and back to Breckenridge for Corvettes on the Rockies, and other super event!
Our return to So Cal (on our own) was also wonderful, but included no Corvette stuff!

That was quite an adventure...!!! Sad to say I think the Corvettes in the Rockies doesn't happen anymore in Breckenridge/Summit County. While the club that sponsored it still does venture into the mountains some most of their events happen down on the Front Range.
And you're right, the Black Hills is a neat area to visit! Will be in that area sometime this coming summer (not exactly sure when yet), but in the other blue car.
