Vette(s): between vette's

A long long time ago on 8/31/1971, I purchased a new 1972 Corvette coupe (Elkhart Green, base 350, 4-speed) from Ken Wilson Chevrolet in Vestal, NY for $6118

I sold the Vette 3 years later to a friend of mine, with the promise that I had first chance to buy it back if he ever wanted to sell it.  Four months later, my former friend, traded my Vette in on a pickup at the Chevy dealer in Owego, NY.  At that point I lost track of my Vette. For years I carried the VIN number with me in case I saw a green ’72 coupe.

I finally gave up looking and in 2017, I purchased a 1996 Polo Green LT-1 coupe which gets driven only on nice sunny days.  In many ways the ’96 is much better than my ’72, but the love of your first Corvette never goes away.

To this day I have never found my ‘72 and if anyone has any information on VIN #1Z37K2S500124, I have paperwork and etc. that may be of interest to the current owner.  Feel free to contact me at KD4HXD@charter.net
