Bumperettes??

What is the deal with those 4 little rubber thingies that pass as bumpers? What are these things called??? Mine are all cruddy and I desperately want to buy some new ones, but I can't find what they are called or who sells them ANYWHERE!!

If they are hard to track down, has anybody painted theirs black? And if so, what kind of paint would you use on them? Or should I just forget about buying new and just paint the ones I currently have?

(Why do I feel like I should have started this post with "Dear Abby"? Maybe because there are 5 questions and one statement. haha)

Those are actually part of the bumper, molded in, Fiberglass or True Flex. The black part can be masked off, sanded and painted with black bumper paint. A lot of Vettes have them the same color as the paint. I do not think they make any covers for these.

Makes sense that they are part of the bumper. I jsut never saw them in any pics of a 78 bumper. I think I will take you advice and paint them. Is bumper paint readily available? I too feel like they HAVE to get painted.

Most large auto parts stores with a good paint section should have black paint for bumpers, deck lids, and hoods. It is almost always a flat non-reflective type of paint. You may look for a rubber coating type paint that would give a hard rubber look also.

I used a dark gray colored primer and wet sanded. I don't remember the brand of the primer.
