I was wondering if any of you had an opinion on insurance places like Hagerty collector car insurance, Grundy, or Classic auto insurance.

I had Hagerty on another car.  Then sent out a post here and several folks mentioned Grundy.

I called Hagerty for quote to insure vette and increase insurance on the other car.  Hagerty wanted about $450.00 for vette with 30K coverage.  Grundy wanted $180.00 for same amount.

Grundy was also $300.00-350.00 cheaper for same coverage on other car once bumped to new agreed value.

Good Luck,

What I like about Hagerty is no mileage restrictions.  Of course, like other collector car insurance, you can't use the car as a daily driver or drive it to work, and it has to be stored in a garage when not in use.

I have always used JC Taylor in Upper Darby, PA. I currently have 2 cars insured with them and the rates seem very reasonable for the values I have them insured for - remember - anything over $30K in value requires an appraisal...

Vette(s): had a really nice one. sold it to a good friend. Purchased 2004 custom coupe in Feb. 2009 did not tell anyone here until August 2009. BAD I KNOW.
that is way i just have full coverage from my regular insurance co. i don't have agreed or anything like that, which would be nice, but i can drive it anywhere i like as often as i like and as much as i like, in the monsoon season i can kick it back to a storage type coverage for around 50 bucks, it is a little spendy, with my driven record, but i am not limited in anyway,

I have the 69 Camaro and the 69 Vette insured through my regular insurance company (American Family) for agreed value ($35,000.00 on the Vette and $42,000.00 on the Camaro) based on appraisals.  No mileage limitations.  Niether car can be your primary transportation and they must be garaged when not in use.  It runs me $200.00 per year, per car.

I applied to several companies when  ready for the road with the first 2 vettes, and was denied for classic ins. for different reasons, age of autos being one ( the want '72 and older ) but Haggerty gave me a chance because of my age, driving record and now I have 3 with them and that qualifies for a collectors discount. The vettes are 78s and 81 and they still work with me, I'm very happy with them.

1BadLT1...I'd love to have no restrictions, but we already have 4 other vehicles and two trailers insured through our regular insurance company so I need to put up with the restrictions to get a good rate @ an "agreed" value.  You can probably guess we are insurance poor.  If something were to happen to my 1972 Monte Carlo, they wouldn't give me even half of it's value.  (that's the car I have insured through Hagerty @
$15,000.00 value)  Right now the Vette is insured with our regular insurance because at this point they'd probably give me more than it's actual value....LOL  (It's pretty rough, but runs and drives great)

I have American Collectors and have been happy with them. I haven't had to make any claims but a friend had to several years ago and said he was very satisfied with their service.
