Forgive me because I'm new to the forum, if you've covered this a million times already. I'm looking for the best sources for tracing the history of my Vette. I know early records can be hard to come by depending on the part of the country it was in, and being a base model '75, I didn't much care where it came from until I found a brown and silver metal tag with what appears to be German writing on it. It has my car's VIN number hand stamped on it, along with the manufacturer and model(Chevrolet Corvette, obviously), and front and rear axle weight ratings on it. I'm assuming that it must have been brought overseas possibly with someone in the service or an international businessman or something. Of course my dream would be to find out that it was Zora's daily driver when he vacationed in Germany or something.    Anyway, I know it's been in Wisconsin for the last 15 years or so and it was in Texas before that. If anyone can help or lead me in the right direction, it would be greatly appreciated!

You can do a "Title Search" and get most of the info. Not all states will do it, tho.
I was lucky enough to get one on my '74 back to the original owner. It was bought new in Indiana. The title search came with copies of the original title, and the subsequent one, also. I think mine cost like $15. Check with your State DMV, to see if they can/will do it. The web site for your state DMV will have the info.
Good luck!

Thanks for the lead! I by chance found a "friend-of-a-friend" that was from Germany and supposedly still had close connections to home, but he came up empty. Unfortunately they didn't keep very detailed records back in the '70s either. I hope I have better luck your way. By the way, I love the color of your Vette. I think that's the color mine was meant to be, if it wasn't so faded!
