I recently purchased a 1973 coupe, for the life of me I cannot figure out how to release the spare tire from the well, the owners manual has been no help. Please advise. THX

There are two piviots at the front of the spare tire carrier. There is one bolt at the rear. You can see a large lug on the rear bolt. Un screw it and the carrier will drop. Before it falls, with the lug loose you should be able to turn the lug to line up with a hole in the carrier and drop the lug throught without needing to completely remove it from the bolt.

First of all, there should be lock that is over a lug at rear of the spare tire tub. Your round key should unlock it. After you remove the lock use a socket wrench to loosen the lug. After you loosen that you should be able to push up on the tub a move it off the lip that holds it in place. The rear of the tub should come down to the ground to access your spare. Let me know how you make out.
