My rochester carb has a rod missing from the front vaccum break to the secondary butterfly. The rod runs over top of the choke. I really dont know if it was ever there or if it fell off, what does this do and what effect does it have on the ops of the carb.My car has been running great now all of a sudden it really misses when you punch it. Thanks

The rod forces the seconday air flap to hesitate opening. When manifold vacuum drops, the primary pulloff relaxes, and allows the air flaps to open. If they opened sooner, the car can bog. And not all of them have it.
