Well alright ! It's great to see another Nor. Cal. vette come on board. Hope to be seeing you around the sight regularly. Seems C3 members in this area are sparse for some unknown reason. Hope you enjoy the forum my friend.

Welcome Rod

Another Crossfire system.  Tell us a little about your car.  How did you come to own it?  What are your planes for it?  What condition is it in?

I have owned it for about a year and a half now.  I found it in a garage in Flagstaff, AZ while working there last year.  The previous owner was selling it due to not needing it any longer and it had been sitting in his garage for more than two years.  It only had 94,000 miles on it and was in stock condition, although severely neglected.
When I first saw it, I was sure it was just junk, but it fired up almost right away after needing a battery jump.  When I took it out for a test ride, it ran well, the tires were flatspotted from sitting so long, but otherwise everything on it worked.  Anyway, the price was right, I bought it, changed the oil, coolant and trans fluids, air and oil filters, cleaned it up inside and out and have not any trouble with it until this past spring.  The engine developed a knock which turned out to be a bad rod bearing.  I took that opportunity to have it rebuilt basically stock, with a .020 re-bore and that's when the fuel pump went out.  I have had to have it replaced three times so far this year already.  I recently read where these tanks are plastic coated and can start to separate from the tank after time especially if the car has been sitting still for long periods of time as this one had.  So, it looks like I will be replacing the fuel tank soon.  With a rebuilt engine and new fuel tank, it should run like new and be good for another 94,000 miles or more.  I plan to just keep it stock as it is number 23,255 out of a production run of 25,407.  Not a lot of these cars left it seems.

I had a fuel pressure issue I put in an 85 pump.  Puts out more pressure with more volume I believe anyway it made a lot of difference in the performance of my car.  I have other issues such as it runs really rich and I have not been able to figure that one out yet.

If it had fuel in it when it was sitting you should not have much trouble with the fuel tank.  Mine sat for four years in the sun everything was broken inside because of that and it was ok.  Of course that is San Diego and not AZ.  With fuel in it it would never have dried out I guess is the thinking.
