Thanks so much! Looking forward to the help, friendship and knowledge to be shared with all you folks that know so much more than I do about our fine C3's!

Welcome to the C3VR family, Keith (Hot4spdC3).
There's quite a few members up there in the Washington/Oregon area that get together frequently. You might check the North West Region Events to find out what's going on and when.

Welcome, Keith! It's good to see some more 79s coming on board! You'll find that this is the best site on the net for C3 info and talk! Enjoy!

Vette(s): 1982 C3 Collectors Edition 44000 miles, sat in the sun most of its life, My wife purchased it for me for Father's Day in 2007 from her girlfriend that had it for 19 years. It is on the road again. I'm retired but it is now my daily driver.

Welcome and tell us something about your 79. How did you come by it and what are your plans for it?

Thanks everyone! I found the car on the internet. I was looking for something a bit more comfortable than a Factory Five Cobra that I had built, mainly for my wife to enjoy a bit more when riding with me to the cruises and shows. The Vette was at a high performance/exotic car dealership on the east coast and that's a long way from Seattle I know but they had plenty of pictures and it had less than 8k original miles. We worked out a trade deal where I got cash as well as the Vette and they paid for enclosed trailer freight for my Cobra to go back and the Vette to come to me so I went for it. It was the only car deal I have ever done where I got cash in return so my wife was actually happy about this one.
I know a 79 will never be worth much but it is a numbers matching, 4-speed, low-mile car that is pretty original and I do really like the style with the Pace Car spoilers. It's been repainted in the 2-tone that isn't original and had all the L82 upgrades when it was originally an L48 so I'm not worried about keeping it exactly stock. I received some great original paperwork with the car. All the sale documents, 1979 sales brochure, the window sticker, owners manual packet, etc. The car was ordered with no A/C, manual windows, manual seats so I figure the guy wanted to save a bit of weight and go fast, well, as fast as they could back then anyway.
I have retrieved the tank sticker, but it was pretty hard to read in some places. The car sat for a long time and most of the rubber bits are in need of replacement. I have redone the rearend in many spots with regards to that and it's on to the front now. Like most of us I am doing things as money, time and wife allow. I have changed to 17 inch rims with modern rubber and will post pictures once I get the car rolling again.
I have rebuilt the shifter and will be adding chambered true dual exhaust as well plus a few engine bolt-on upgrades will be done too.
There are so many vendors that carry virtually every part we need to work on these cars that I know I will have reading material in the john for years to come. I have purchased a service manual and GM assembly manual and quite a few C3 reference books so I think I have started out on the right foot to enjoying my Vette in the years to come. I am going to retire at the end of this year and then will be able to devote some serious garage time in the not-to-distant future.
Thanks guys in advance for all the questions I will be asking!
KC

Man, I don't think I've EVER got money back in a car deal! Good job! Thank goodness you put new rubber on the car. So many people try to run on the old rubbber and end up paying for it! Try to get invloved in the local shows (especially when other C3VR members are there, they're a great group). That and the cruises. I realize the gathering this year would be a streach for you (Charleston, SC) this year but I believe next year the gathering will be out there. Keep us informed on your progress and we'll try to help when needed!
