It's been a month since my car quit. I won't bore you with the details. If I hadn't had the 200 or so miles of fun with it before it died I may have sold it cheap. Best advise I can give is don't give up. Use the FSM , go thru the maze of checks, jumpers and so on. I'm 65 years young, own my own business and thought I was a good mechanic. These cars are complicated but not impossible to work on. Many thanks to the posters who share advise and offer solutions. Many thanks to the people who take the time to set up and run these forums. I lied, said I wouldn't bore anyone.......my VATS shut my car down. Never did find the problem, I installed a Newrockies module to bypass the key and the anti theft. I think the door switches are to blame but I'm not sure. Not worried about the car being stolen where I live or where I may park it.
All the checks and jumpers and time discharging the battery and recharging it, disconnecting and reconnecting the battery I screwed up and hooked the charger up backwards (reverse polarity ). Only took a few seconds for me to react to the awful sound the charger was making but by then it was too late.
New ECM  and my car runs again. ( this is the edited/short version of the past month).
Thanks again to all the posters, maybe some who reads this will be more careful than me when they go to charge their battery.
