Thank you for the warm welcome.
I bought my car last year from a fellow not too far from here. I was looking for an old jeep to fix up like I had done before when I saw the picture of the car. Like many, I had said "one day I'll get a Corvette" and this one looked great. It had been a show car for most of its life and I waited for 3 days before I called about it, sort of hoping that it had been sold.
The owner advised me it was still available but that he reserved the right not to sell the car. When I saw it, I just loved it. It was beautiful and better than the picture and after some questions and answers about what cars I currently have and had previously, what happened to them, how did I feel when they went, where will I keep the car, we went for a drive and I let him drive it. He really put it through its paces!
When we returned, I asked if he felt that I was worthy of the car and he felt I was and we struck a deal. Others he said had looked at it and in his opinion, weren't worthy.
As he completed the bill of sale over coffee, he excused himself and his wife pointed to her eye and indicated a tear and said it was breaking his heart to sell it. The car was for sale because the owner had both knees replaced with artificial ones and he couldn't take the strain of the clutch. When he came back he gave me a full set of NOS factory hoses and light bulbs and the GM shop manuals for the car as well as the factory build sheet.
When I came back to pick up the car, he met me at the train station and he had put the glass top from his previous 'Vette in the car and stood in the roadway and watched as I drove out of sight.
I feel I was very lucky to have obtained a car like that one and when I had the oil changed, the shop said that it was absolutely clean underneath and was a great car to have found as it was 100% original and an excellent example and would appreciate in value over the years.
Sometimes, I feel a car comes along for a reason and this was one of them. I just love driving it and there is nothing else like it but then if you have one, you know exactly what I mean.

Thanks, Jimmymack. It was a once in a lifetime car to get I think. The fellow I got it from waited 3 years to get that car from the original owner who had ordered then leased it with the option to buy at the end of the lease. An unfortunate, or fortunate divorce, depending on how one looks at these things allowed him to buy the car. Fortunately it didn't get a lot of use from the woman who had it first. More of a status symbol I suppose since she was a lawyer.
He used it as a show car and it still smells like new inside almost 14 years later!!
