This is our first venture into a C3...previously owned a C4 (84)..loved the car but wanted the classic 'vette body style.
Already finding "projects" to work on, lol. The fun of 33 year old cars hiding underneath shiny new paint :)

Vette(s): 1982 C3 Collectors Edition 44000 miles, sat in the sun most of its life, My wife purchased it for me for Father's Day in 2007 from her girlfriend that had it for 19 years. It is on the road again. I'm retired but it is now my daily driver.

We owned an '84 for several years, sold it to go in a different direction (motorhome). Realized that despite a 460/Banks under the hood the driving experience just wasn't the same 

Decided we really missed having a 'vette. Wanted the C3 body style this time.
Looked at perhaps 15 different cars in the tri-state area before settling on this one.

We found every single C3 for sale in this part of the midwest had rust somewhere...birdcage, frame...normally both. Some were terribly ratted out, and not always the less-expensive ones. Looked at one that had holes where body mount #2 should be...$15K!
Some had iffy "repairs" done that looked more like a cover-up than a structural improvement.
We tried to pick one that had minimal amounts of rust, but still have some issues to deal with.
To- do list?
Erm...Rust. Starting with the last 2" of frame before the rear kick-ups. Bottom of the box is bad. Top/sides still solid with only light surface rust. Looks like a simple cut/weld job.
Differential- passenger's side yoke is worn, too much end play.
Steering rag joint shot.
Radiator has a pinhole leak.

Exhaust cutouts tapping on the floor. Have to relocate. Or might just remove and run new pipe from headers to the cats.
Plus side? Body mounts all in good condition. Interior is like new. No sign of water entry behind the kicks or under the dash. T-tops don't leak when sprayed with the hose.
L82 runs strong, TH350 overhauled last fall. New calipers at all 4.
So that's how it got here, and where it sits as of today.
