Vette(s): 1968 427 producing 550 hp at rear wheels. Color is Black. This car didn't have a place for a spare tire, or didn't come with an emergency break. The car only has 44,237 origonal miles. License is TERMN8R

Adam, thanks for the welcome.  I am trying to get my 68 vette completed by next summer.  I found out it has been raced in Europe as well as in the states when it was new.  I know it is a one of a kind, but I am customizing it the way I want it.  I have had 2 other vettes, a 71-454, & a 75 that I redid.  I got rid of them, but this one I am going to keep, so it is going to be restored the way I want.  I will never sell this car, it is my dream car.  It is the only 68 with this motor, a 427 putting out 550 hp to the rear wheels from the factory, the other 19 engines like it were all placed in 67 vettes.  It only has 44,000 origional miles on it.  It set in a field for over a year that I know of as it took me a year to get the guy to sell it to me by pestering him every day.  I think he sold it to me just to get rid of me. (g)  The weather sure took a tole on it, but the motor is perfect now.  I need to get a new interior put into it, as well as have the stress cracks taken out & painted.  I took the old steering out of it & put in rack & pinion so I could turn it, & am going to put Vintage air in it as well.  I took off the off road exaust & put on Hooker side pipes, so now I can put on a spare tire carrier.  It didn't even have an emergency brake, I guess they didn't need one for racing, there wasn't even a hint of an emergency brake when I bought it, so had some research done, & that car didn't come with one.  I still have a lot of work to do on it, replace all the rubber on the hard top, I just finished putting on a new rag top, but it is a labor of love.  When I get it finished, I will submit a picture.

Bob

Bob, you need to show us some "before " shots! Sounds like a really interesting car and with a racing history to boot! I'd like to hear some details on the motor also.

Remember, the L88 with a tuned set of headers would produce 550 hp as well.
