Vette(s): 1977 2 door coupe, revived in June 2023 from being in my barn for 33 years. Original interior, exterior (now has striping), and drivetrain (L48, auto; yes numbers match). Corvette Orange / Brown interior; mileage 19,500.
Hi,
I have a 77 coupe, Corvette Orange. The car was originally purchased by my wife in July of 77. It was driven for a few years, but then with our family starting, we parked it in the barn. About 6 years later (I know...) I took it out of the barn, but it had no brakes, Back to the barn 'for a while'. Work got in the way, and in 2022 my wife passed away from cancer. So I took title to it and in June of 2003 I put a new battery in it and it started! Yes, it had 'vintage' gas in it, but it did wake up. I had a local garage handle getting the car back on the road. I had a regular plate on it, so I now need the yearly state inspection, to make sure little items didn't crop up and leave me stranded or worse. To date {Feb. 2026), the exterior is 100% original, as is the interior. I have 19,544 miles on it, which are also original to the car. The shop gave me 5 pages of the work performed, and yes, I had a new gas tank installed, which I now run it on zero % ethanol. The engine is the L48 with the 3 speed automatic, the gymkhana suspension, AM/FM stereo radio, and the light package. I'm trying to keep it as original as I can. It runs very well, handles like it's on a rail, and I take to a few shows each year. In about 3-4 weeks (after the snow is gone), I'll bring it out of the garage for a good detailing. I may be in my mid 70's, but if I'm on the right roads, I'm still a spirited driver! A picture will be coming.

Hi Ted,

So sorry to hear of the loss of your life-partner. What a fitting way to honor her life by keeping her memory alive through the preservation of the car she chose to enjoy. Well maintained, low mileage, original examples with long term ownership are diminishing in numbers so good on ya for getting it out in the sunshine for, not only you to enjoy driving but, for others to enjoy seeing and appreciate.

Enjoy "the twisties"...!!!

Welcome ted! That's a nice story. It must mean a lot to you to have your wife's old car back up and running.

We'll be looking forward to photos!

In the meantime, enjoy the spring and summer!
