Vette(s): 1986 Coupe. This is from the 1989 VH1 sweepstakes. I won this car in a sweepstakes from thelostcorvettes.com this September. It only has 40,000 miles on it and I am going to spend the winter doing minor things to it. It runs and looks great.

I don’t know much about corvettes. I won this 86 corvette September of 2020 in a sweepstakes put on by thelostcorvettes.com. It is one of the 36 corvettes from the 1989 VH-1 sweepstakes. It has been sitting in New York city parking garages for 25 years along with the other 35 corvettes from that giveaway.

Here is what it looked like when it was discovered after sitting all of those years:

And here is what it looked like when I was told it was mine. I did not attend the ceremony due to the corona virus but I did a zoom with Chris Mazzilli. This picture was taken in Times Square on Veterans Day of 2020::

It is sitting in my garage and I am in the process of going over the car and I will post more as I get this thing where I want it to be by spring.

I got a copy of the original window sticker and the car does have the Z51 Performance Package option for $470.00. It also has the MM4 Four Speed Trans with Overdrive.

Other options:

AG9 six-way power seat $225.00

AQ9 graphite sport seats $1025.00

AU3 power door locks $175.00

B4M custom feature package $195.00

K34 electronic speed control w/resume $185.00

The car sold for $31,816.00 from Paramount Chevrolet in Downey California.

I have a question concerning the valve covers. I hate that color and am wondering if there is a way to restore those? I want something that is durable and will last.

The valve covers are magnesium. Engine oil seeps into the metal, and eventually turns the covers brown. You can remove them, clean them very well, and paint, or replace them. I put a set of plain jane chrome covers on my '85, and set the originals to the side for now. I'll eventually restore them, but not really a priority for me.
