We added a new steed to the stable today. Kind of a birthday present to herself. Michele decided to go with a '14 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited w/3.0L EcoDiesel. The color is pretty cool. Black Forest Green Pearl Coat. Looks black in the shade and then turns various shades of green as the light passes over it.

I must say the torque of this little diesel is impressive. 240 hp 420 ft. lbs. Pretty quiet for a diesel engine too. No smoke and no smell. 8 speed auto keeps the engine up in its power band range nicely. Hopefully it gets it advertised mpg ratings of 22 city 30 hwy.

Vette(s): 1982 C3 Collectors Edition 44000 miles, sat in the sun most of its life, My wife purchased it for me for Father's Day in 2007 from her girlfriend that had it for 19 years. It is on the road again. I'm retired but it is now my daily driver.
nice
I like diesels owned a few driven a not more in Europe on travel. If setup correctly Transmission and gear ratio they run real nice. It is a little hard to get used to max torque at low RPMs.
My current diesel only get 7 mph of course it is 40 feet long.

Sure can't beat 22-30 MPG with a full size SUV. The new Jeeps are pretty cool looking.

We did get a fair deal imo. There were no big incentives offered. I told the salesman to call when they do get better incentives. No incentives on the horizon. But! He wanted to deal, so we did the dance. It was short and sweet none the less.
Gary, the engine is a Italian built V.M. Motori 3.0 V6. It is wholly owned by Fiat Powertrain. They were owned at one time by GM and Penske. DaimlerChrysler had them for a short stint.
Here's a interesting tid bit of info regarding this engine. GM messed up again.

Will the the hood stay locked on this one or will there be some modifications?

I pulled into a gas station and was stumped for a second or two seeing one getting pumped with diesel thinking the guy made a mistake in pumps.

Lol, you know me too well.
Hmm, I did put a lift kit in my '14 Silverado shortly after I bought it. Then the Challenger got a couple mods after delivery. More to come after the warranty is up
. So chances are, something is going to get tweaked under the hood as soon as someone comes out with a decent power package. I've read that Gale Banks Engineering has been toying around with these engines. <crossing fingers> But for now no one is really doing much until the demand for these engines goes up.
