CORVETTE RACING AT ROAD AMERICA: Going Long

Six-hour race length to welcome five Corvettes to Elkhart Lake
 

DETROIT (July 28, 2026) – Corvette and Road America. They are two of racing’s iconic names that will come together again this weekend for the six-hour Motul Endurance SportsCar Grand Prix.


Five Chevrolet Corvette Z06 GT3.Rs will take to the 4.048-mile, 14-turn circuit for the fourth of five endurance races in this year’s IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship. It’s the first six-hour race at Road America for Corvette Racing and the rest of the IMSA field – a change welcomed by the roster of Corvette drivers in both GTD PRO and GTD:


· Corvette Racing by Pratt Miller Motorsports – GTD PRO: Antonio Garcia, Alexander Sims (No. 3 Corvette); Nicky Catsburg, Tommy Milner (No. 4 Corvette)

· 13 Autosport – GTD: Matt Bell, Orey Fidani, Lars Kern No. 13 Corvette)

· DXDT Racing – GTD: Charlie Eastwood, Mason Filippi, Salih Yoluc (No. 36 Corvette)

· DragonSpeed – GTD: Giacomo Altoé, Casper Stevenson, Alec Udell (No. 81 Corvette)

 
The race is another chance for the Corvette GT3 program to add to its summer of success. Corvettes have won two 24-hour races in class (Le Mans and Spa), took a home victory at Detroit and claimed another class win in the FIA WEC at Brazil.

 
That combined with the Corvette program’s history at Road America should bode well for this weekend. The Corvette Racing factory team won eight times in class at Road America – including a wild 2016 finish by Tommy Milner and Antonio Garcia’s last-lap win in the rain in 2020. Corvettes also won at Road America in SRO competition in 2024 and 2025 with factory driver Tommy Milner, DragonSpeed’s Alec Udell and 13 Autosport’s Matt Bell all taking victories in that span.

 
More strong results will go a long way toward deciding season-ending championships in both the GTD PRO and GTD classes. In GTD PRO, Chevrolet leads the Manufacturers Championship, and both entries from Corvette Racing by Pratt Miller Motorsports are in the top-four of the Drivers and Teams championship.

 
In GTD, all three Corvette teams have three-driver endurance lineups. The 13 Autosport Corvette and Orey Fidani are fighting for a third consecutive Bob Akin Award and a return trip to the 24 Hours of Le Mans. The DXDT Racing Corvette features two drivers – factory driver Charlie Eastwood and Salih Yoluc – that won in Brazil for TF Sport in a Corvette earlier this month. In the DragonSpeed camp, Giacomo Altoé was last year’s pole-winner in GTD PRO; he and Casper Stevenson will have Udell as a third driver for this weekend.
 

The Motul Endurance SportsCar Grand Prix is scheduled for 10:40 a.m. CT on Sunday, August 2. It will stream live in its entirety on Peacock in the U.S. starting at 10:30 a.m. CT and on IMSA’s YouTube channel internationally. ANTONIO GARCIA, NO. 3 CHEVROLET CORVETTE Z06 GT3.R: “Road America is one of my favorite tracks in IMSA and has been since I first raced there. The racing there is usually very hard as we have seen the last few years. I don’t see that changing at all with this now a six-hour race, which I think a lot of us are excited about. It’s been awhile since we’ve won here. Last year was looking really good until Alex got hit and sent into the gravel while leading. That we were able to come back and finish fourth was a big deal for the championship. Things didn’t go our way the last time out in Canada so hopefully we can get back on the podium and gain back some ground in the championship.”


ALEXANDER SIMS, NO. 3 CHEVROLET CORVETTE Z06 GT3.R: “I do love driving at Road America. It’s very unique. There’s quite a few cool things about. The section from turns Six through Eight is great… It's really fun to pick up speed there during the weekend in a GT car. You can monster over the curb of the fast right-hander and get closer and closer to a flat-out passage through there; you’re never quite flat through there but you always want to. Using those curbs are always fun, especially with the wonderful suspension our Corvette has! Then the Carousel itself is cool and unique. There’s not many places at any circuit in the world where the corner is that long and that fast… maybe the triple left-hander at Turkey is close. It’s way faster than the Carousel at the Nürburgring. Then you’re into the Kink and another high-speed, high-commitment corner. It’s always a game of chicken with yourself and how much you commit to staying on throttle. There are so many unique corners, nice long straights and good passing opportunities. It’s a brilliant decision from IMSA to move this to a six-hour race. There is going to be a lot of good racing, some fun restarts and racing situations to contend with… I’m really excited for it.”


TOMMY MILNER, NO. 4 CHEVROLET CORVETTE Z06 GT3.R: "I have some great memories at Road America over the years. The 2016 race was a really fun moment in many ways. It also was a pivotal moment for our championship that year. Going from fifth to first place in five minutes or something like that was a pretty incredible moment. I also look back pretty well on racing in SRO. To get those two wins there and some awesome pictures with the kids and family after the races were great. It's an awesome part of the country and the people there are great and really good sports car racing fans. The crowd is always really big so it's exciting to reward them with a six-hour race like this. It's something that this track has deserved for a long time. It lends itself to great racing for everybody. Another great, classic American racetrack that is a lot of fun to drive by yourself and a lot of fun to race on. I'm hoping we can continue our push to scoring as many points as we can and it ends up being a good weekend for our championship."


NICKY CATSBURG, NO. 4 CHEVROLET CORVETTE Z06 GT3.R: “I absolutely love it because Road America might be my favorite track in the States. Doing six hours there is great, and I’m really looking forward to that. I could do eight hours as well; it’s such a nice track. We have so many good tracks over the calendar, but Road America is right up there. I feel like (the series) made a good decision there last year after the race to kind of tone everyone down. The way IMSA races, the way the championship works with the yellows and the restarts, you just get into many situations where it’s easy to have contact. So I just feel like that kind of belongs in IMSA. Of course, we as drivers need to try and not constantly hit each other, but that’s part of it. And I like to go racing hard and then you win some, you lose some.”


MATT BELL, NO. 13 CHEVROLET CORVETTE Z06 GT3.R: “We came away from last week’s test feeling very positive about the car and the direction we’ve taken with the setup. I’m really looking forward to Road America becoming a six-hour race, as the endurance format should make the event even more challenging and exciting. The team is confident, and we believe we have everything in place to fight for a strong result.”


OREY FIDANI, NO. 13 CHEVROLET CORVETTE Z06 GT3.R: “This weekend is an important one for us in the Bob Akin Award championship. We’re only 20 points from the lead, so every position and every point will matter. The test went well, the car feels competitive, and our focus is on delivering a clean race and coming away with the strongest result possible.”


LARS KERN, NO. 13 CHEVROLET CORVETTE Z06 GT3.R: “It’s one of these tracks everybody always talks about. The Kink, Canada Corner, old school…. I heard about these a lot, and I was very excited about this being an endurance round for this season. Everybody loves old-school tracks, right?

“The test there was smooth. Our Corvette likes the track as much as I liked it. This makes me think we should have a good shot in the race. But we’ve seen this in the last races – even when everything seems amazing – a top-eight finish is something you really have to fight for. The level of competition is crazy. But this is what we love and why I’m incredibly excited for the race.”


MASON FILIPPI, NO. 36 CHEVROLET CORVETTE Z06 GT3.R: “I’m excited to be back in the Corvette at Road America. We were only a few laps away from a win or podium at Watkins Glen and the team showed really strong pace at CTMP. It’s great to carry that momentum into one of the best tracks on the calendar. The six-hour endurance format is going to be a fun challenge, and I know that everyone at DXDT Racing has been putting in the work. My teammates Charlie and Salih have been on fire with the Corvette across multiple series recently so there’s a lot of confidence within our group.
