CORVETTE RACING AT INDY: Podiums Put Titles in Sight
Corvette GT3 teams lead key championships after wild Indianapolis finish
INDIANAPOLIS (September 20, 2026) – Chevrolet and two of its Corvette Z06 GT3.R teams will head into the final IMSA race of the season leading their respective championship standings following a chaotic Battle on the Bricks sprint race Sunday at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
The No. 4 Corvette of Tommy Milner and Nicky Catsburg finished second in GTD PRO for Corvette Racing by Pratt Miller Motorsports to match their best finish of the season. The result was doubly important as they took the lead for the Driver and Team championship standings with only the 10-hour Petit Le Mans at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta to go.
Their runner-up finish not only moves them ahead by 47 points, it gave Chevrolet a 68-point advantage in the Manufacturer Championship heading into the season finale for the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship.
A chaotic final half of the race elevated the No. 3 Corvette of Antonio Garcia and Alexander Sims from 10th in GTD PRO after the second and final full-course yellow to fourth at the end. There were a number of different fuel strategies among the field – plus contact and penalties for multiple cars – that swung the results in the favor of the No. 3 team.
In GTD, Matt Bell and Orey Fidani claimed their first podium finish of the season in the No. 13 Corvette Z06 GT3.R thanks to a final-lap pass to claim a third-place result in class.
Like in GTD PRO, the finish for 13 Autosport carried added importance as Fidani regained the lead in the Bob Akin Award points standings going into Road Atlanta. The season-long award goes to the top points-scoring Bronze driver in GTD, and Fidani has claimed it – and the 24 Hours of Le Mans entry that comes with it – the past two years.
Giacomo Altoé and Casper Stevenson matched their best GTD result of the season in the DragonSpeed No. 81 Corvette. The pairing finished fourth and were in podium contention throughout the race’s second half following a strong stint by Stevenson, who went from 10th at the start to fifth at the team’s first pit stop. Altoé advanced further up the order in his two stints to the end of the race.
The race for DXDT Racing and its No. 36 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 GT3.R was undone by two early hits from separate LMP2s. The first one sent Mason Filippi into the pits for four laps due to a toelink repair. He was hit again halfway through his stint but remained on track. He handed off to Robert Wickens for the final 50-minute stint. The pair finished 12th in GTD.
Corvette Racing’s five Corvette GT3 teams will close the season with the 10-hour Petit Le Mans on Saturday, October 3 from Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta.

TOMMY MILNER, NO. 4 CHEVROLET CORVETTE Z06 GT3.R: “That was hard to watch! It feels like a win in some ways, but it's great to be P2. Nicky drove an awesome, awesome race and did really well. I know he got frustrated at times, but he kept it under control and everything kind of came back our way. We have the points lead again now going into Petit Le Mans, which was the goal. Finally a day goes our way!”
NICKY CATSBURG, NO. 4 CHEVROLET CORVETTE Z06 GT3.R: "I don't know why it was so intense. I felt like there were a million moments of contact and so on. It seemed like we were always in battles. I'm sure there will be some people upset. But there were some really nice fights. This is what IMSA is about. I had moments in the stint where I wanted to disappear and go home but in the end it was very nice. Thanks to the team and their work. We are leading all the championships now – Manufacturer, Driver and Team. So I’m really looking to Petit Le Mans where hopefully we can close it out.”
ANTONIO GARCIA, NO. 3 CHEVROLET CORVETTE Z06 GT3.R: "That definitely wasn't boring! It was frustrating, though, for sure. It's hard to say if we reacted the right way or not. Starting from P7 and on the first few green laps, unless I was aggressive it was going to be difficult to pass. The car was feeling really good. We were just offset on the way we were doing lap times between cars. We tried to go out of sequence; that works at times but probably not for today. We were lacking that little bit to be able to pass a few guys because the difference between cars was tiny. That kind of dictated the race for us. At the end, there was all the mayhem but we stayed out of trouble and at the end what was going to be a P7 or P8 ended up a P4. I think we maximized everything we had for sure."
ALEXANDER SIMS, NO. 3 CHEVROLET CORVETTE ZO6 GT3.R: "I felt like we executed a really nice race today. We pushed up and were able to make up a couple of places in passing people on-track when we needed to. Circumstances really put us back a bit to start with. But then in the last stint I didn't overtake anybody and we went from 10th to fourth. Obviously there were some people who were out of position and needed fuel and things like that, so it wasn't a true 10th place. Nevertheless, just by keeping our nose clean and being sensible out there gained us positions. I would have taken fourth gladly starting the last stint. Nice to get a solid result again. I'm very pleased for the 4 car that they've gotten the lead and the Manufacturer Championship is more secure now, which is the way we want it going to Petit Le Mans. It's perfect, really, and a decent day to be honest."
MATT BELL, NO. 13 CHEVROLET CORVETTE Z06 GT3.R: “It was a crazy race! 13 Autosport gave me an amazing Corvette GT3 to rip around Indy this weekend. We've been fast in every session, and we've been feeling like this was in the cards for a number of races now, to be honest. We've been strong but just had a few things not go our way. It all came together today. The guys did an awesome job on pit road. We jumped a couple of teams on pit road on the last stop. I think we had one of the fastest cars out there. It was an amazing car to drive. I wouldn't say I could pick people off... Everyone put up tough fights as they always do in IMSA. Overall I'm happy to have been able to bring it through the field and get us on the podium.”
OREY FIDANI, NO. 13 CHEVROLET CORVETTE Z06 GT3.R: “We had a good car for this week. I struggled a little bit after some traffic with some pickup on the tires. But we had great pit stops all race. The team was really awesome all day. Then Matt got in and does what he does, driving the wheels of it to the front to put us back in the lead of the Akin Championship and we're going home with a P3 trophy along with it. This couldn't be a better day, to be honest.”
ROBERT WICKENS, NO. 36 CHEVROLET CORVETTE Z06 GT3.R: "One of the P2 cars made a lunge on Mason into Turn 10. There was contact that bent our toelink so we had to come in and fix it. Now we're four laps down. It's a shame. Mason was doing a great job prior to that. Everything was kind of going to plan, per se. Qualifying on points and starting at the back was never going to be easy for us. Just devastating. Everyone worked so hard this weekend. I had lots of friends and family here and was hopeful of giving them a good show."
CASPER STEVENSON, NO. 81 CHEVROLET CORVETTE Z06 GT3.R: “Quite happy to finish in the top-five and have a strong result. I think we definitely were in the mix for the podium so it was a shame to lose it right to the end. That's racing, though. Everyone did a great job so onward to Petit Le Mans.”
