Has anyone used Turtle Wax Color Cure on their vette? My finish is faded and I'd like to bring it back a little bit so I bought some and I'm waiting to fix the brakes before I use it. I want to try it before I get Zaino and I was hoping to hear some success/fail stories and tips on using it. Anything would be great. Thanks.

My honey Steve just did his 69 Tahiti boat with that stuff. It made it look a bit better, but it was pretty faded and oxidized too. I'm sure your vette isn't nearly that bad. It's been sitting outside for a while now. Turned out just ok.

If your Vette has been repainted using clear coat base coat, I can not see how it will help. If you still have the lacquer on it, then it may do something. We have shops around here that do a "chemical" paint clean where they strip off all teh old wax and the oxidized paint, then polish the car. It usually runs about 85 to 90 bucks and well worth it. I got road paint ( yellow lines ) on my Cougar and the chemical clean stripped the yellow right off the black paint and it looked great. There is a chain store that does this but thanks to my old age I can not remember the name of the chain.

You may want to try a product called liquid ebony. I believe that it is made by 3M. Most automotive stores that sell paint will have it or a similar product. There is a more abrasive compound made by 3M also. I dont remember the name, but I was able to rub out a very big scuff on my 74 using it. A body shop may buff your baby out for a nominal fee. These products will work with both laquer and the base coat/clear coat paints.

Hello,
I have used the Turtle Wax Color Cure on my 1973 Coupe. My paint is crazed and spider webed all over. I used the green one and it did hide the crackes and webs but if you looked you could still see them. My car went from being a 20 footer to a 6 footer. So, you could say I was happy with the results. My paint is still the original laquer and I am the second owner. Car is all original.

Vette(s): 1979, 350sb, as my kids affectionately call it "shit brown" Corvette purchased in 1996. 84,000+ miles. Not a show car, but I love her just the same.
What!...no picture of that Jade Jette, Nikki?! Spider cracks won't show up in this forum.
