Vette(s): 1980 vette. black, doeskin insides.4 speed l-48
I replaced my hood(80 vette),with a LT-1 BIG BLOCK HOOD from Vancours,(looks great by the way);and I was just wondering if it is absolutly necessary to install hood insulation.if so,what should I use?and how do I install? it says to glue the holders to the hood then install;what type of glue stands up to that type of heat? Thanks for the help!!!shady80 |headscratch|

I used 3-M panel Adhesive (8115) to secure the 11 insulation retainers on my 75, and also used the GM hood mat which was molded and contoured correctly for the hood. I have had no problems at all with the plastic retainers coming off. I know of quite a few owners who do not use any type of hood mat and have not had any problems. I guess it's all in what you prefer.
