I was wondering if anyone has tried the Mothers plastic polish on your tail lights? Im very intrigued about the product and seriouly doubt that I could use a polishing ball on them without screwing up the chrome trim....but wonder if I'd have sucess by hand.

Anyone try this method or have any sugguestions as to a better way or product to use?

Thanks

Dano

To tell you the truth, Dano, after looking at mine the plastic was faded and cloudy and the backup lights were yellow. I just bit the bullet and bought new ones. They look great! And now I can keep them that way!

I use Griot's Garage Plastic Cleaner and Plastic Polish.  They did a great job on the tail light lenses on my car.  The Mothers is pretty much the same stuff but I haven't tried that or any other brand.  I've heard good things about Mequiar's Plastix as well.

Really does depend on how bad the are. If the plastic itself is too far degraded(dried/brittle), about all you can hope for is the clean it a little. If they're not too far gone, polishing by hand will work wonders. I use Flitz to clean plastic stuff...it works pretty well. Never used any of the other stuff, so I got no opinions on that.

Remove em and hold em up to the light first. My were all spider webbed and cracked from age. Replaced em and still got $50 for my originals...

Bought this stuff at Home Depot and it worked pretty slick with my 18 volt cordless.  Didn't take long at all. 4" wheel and compound stick. Says it's good for plastic and chrome. I heated the compound stick a little.

I used AutoSol polish on my instrument cluster lenses with a drill mounted buffer, even though the tube says "meatl polish".  Read about it in Eastwood.  Took all the scratches out.  Should work on tail light lenses as well.

Wow, never had this happen before but my Norton virus protection has blocked me from opening Jeffs pics. Says its a malicious site. Anyone else get that message?
